Tapton Lock Well Dressing
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the construction of Tapton Lock well dressing will be slightly different this year. To follow social distancing guidlines, 'well-dressing kits' have been sent out to participants. These will be individual squares with a part of the design on it, once completed these squares will put together to create the final design.
Well dressing is an ancient custom only found in and around the borders of Derbyshire. It is the art of decorating springs or wells (and, in this case a canal) with pictures made from natural materials. This is the first well dressing by the Don Catchment Rivers Trust which is in place for the Tapton Lock Festival.
