The Kinder Loop, which has been developed by Peak Horsepower, encircles Kinder Scout and draws on existing bridleways, the Pennine Bridleway and the Trans-Pennine Trail to establish a 55 mile circular route through dramatic scenery. It is suitable for mountain bikes as well as horses.
Section one - Ladybower Reservoir to Trans-Pennine Trail, Millhouse Green.
This section of the ride starts at the Derwent Overlook car park at the head of the Ladybower reservoir. This car park is on the left about 1/3rd of a mile before you reach the main Fairholmes car park and café. It is a much easier car park for access for horse boxes. The ride goes north alongside the Derwent and Howden reservoirs on good trails before crossing high level exposed moorland on a stony track over boggy ground. The ride gives a sense of wilderness and is very beautiful, but because of the nature of the landscape and altitude, is not for novice riders. It is the most challenging part of the route. Approximate distance 14 miles; riding time 5-7 hours.
