NOVEMBER 2020 COVID-19 UPDATE
Welcome to our October 2020 COVID-19 Update. This explains our current provision. It also details the measures we have implemented to be able to run our activities as safely as possible. We hope it provides the reassurance you need to book with confidence, but please don’t hesitate to contact us if you want to discuss any aspect of our course delivery.
What’s On Offer?
All our UK courses and activities are running. We have made appropriate modifications to ensure our UK courses are as safe as possible and we are taking account of changes to government guidance and the developing medical knowledge about how COVID-19 is transmitted. We also adhere closely to any relevant advice from our professional organisations and awarding bodies.
All of our activities adhere to the government COVID Secure criteria regarding health, social distancing and hygiene. We are also accredited through the Visit Britain ‘We’re Good To Go’ industry standard. This requires businesses to complete appropriate risk assessments and to undertake a self assessment process.
Our COVID-19 Guarantee
We know as well as you that one of the biggest difficulties we all currently face is not knowing when things will change. Either you or us may need to change things at short notice. We want you to have the confidence to book a course with us without the risk of losing your payment.
Our guarantee is simple. If you are unable to proceed with your booking due to government restrictions related to Covid-19 or changes in your personal circumstances (such as travel bans, regional or national lockdowns or enforced self-isolation), we will offer you a refund or change of course date (whichever you prefer). We are applying this guarantee to all future bookings until the COVID-19 crisis is resolved.
Adventures Are Still Out There To Be Enjoyed!
Why Choose Us?
Whether it's a chance to try a new activity or to hone your skills for something you already love doing. Whether alone or part of a family or large group. Whether for half a day or several days. Peak Mountaineering is an award winning outdoor activity provider and we'd love to help provide your next great adventure.
We have been delivering industry leading and award winning adventure activities for well over 15 years and our highly qualified and local staff are experts both in keeping you safe and in delivering your activities in a fun and friendly environment. We have listed details of some of our more popular activities below and more details on all our standard offerings are listed on our website here.
We are also experts in creating bespoke itineraries too. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have something in mind that isn't listed. We love a challenge! Similarly, do contact us if you want to chat through options. We would always rather be sure the chosen activities are right for your needs.
Family Days to Large Group Events
We love nothing more than sharing adventures with familiies, couples and singles, but every year we also deliver many events for corporate and stag and hen groups. All our activities are available for groups and we can also provide others on request. If you have a special requirement do ask. We also have some unique activities and challenges for you to try. Check out, amongst others, the details of our 'Curry in a Cave' or 'Derwent Dambusters Dash' for inspiration. The Peak District makes the perfect venue for everything from a celebration weekend to a sales conference. Even better, we have a superb relationship with many local accommodation providers, restaurants, cafes and transport providers. We can put together any package to suit your needs.
Rock Climbing
We honed our own climbing skills on the crags of the Peak District and would love nothing more than to share our passion with you. The Peak District is a climbers paradise and we have many thousands of gritstone and limestone climbs of all difficulty levels. We can cater for everyone from complete beginner to the highly experienced and for every group size and age. On our website here you'll find details of our scheduled courses but we can also offer bespoke itineraries.
Weaseling
This is a great activity for children and young at heart adults alike. It is a sort of outdoor caving that involves taking a rock hopping scrambly route through jumbles of gritstone boulders. It is great fun, very safe and it takes place in one of the most stunning of Peak District venues. Everyone that tries it loves it!
Abseiling
Abseiling is a fun and exciting activity suitable for all. As always, this is challenge by choice and all sessions are supervised by highly qualified instructors with great local knowledge. We have some great venues including old railway bridges and disused quarries - perfect for a personal challenge and also perfect for getting superb photographic evidence for your social media feeds!
Mountain Biking
Wow! Where do we start. The off road trails of the Peak District are amongst the very best in the world. Whether steep and technical singletrack or traffic free cycleways made on disused railways, we have something for every age, every skill level and every aspiration. Our mountain bike guides can hone your skills, show you the very best trails and keep you safe. We really love it and you will too. Our website includes details of our skills courses here but we deliver just as much private guided riding. We can cater for every mountain biking requirement.
Navigation Training
The Peak District moorland, as well as being a stunning and wild haven, makes perfect terrain for learning navigation skills. Developing navigation skills, as well as being essential for safe mountain travel, is also great fun. Our skilled instructors will effortlessly guide you through the key skills and build up techniques at a speed to suit you. We offer courses for all skill and experience levels and all courses are certificated. Full details are on our website here.
Watersports
We offer a range of watersports including paddleboarding, kayaking, rafting and tubing. All are suitable for beginners and varied age groups. Do get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Environmental Activities
If you are visiting the Peak District and want to take part in a completely free activity that will help leave the park better than you found it, we can help. We are very proud to be a partner of the Peak District National Park Foundation and we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously. Part of our commitment to taking care of this special place has been to set up a Litter Collection Equipment Loan Scheme to equip visitors who want to make a special contribution to the area. Please do consider taking part during your stay. Full details on the scheme are available on our website here.
