About
Markeaton Park is Derby’s most visited park and is one of the most popular attractions in the East Midlands. At Markeaton Park there is something for everyone to enjoy, don’t come for an hour, come and stay for the day!
There are a multitude of entertaining facilities at the Mundy Play Centre, including bouncy castle, crazy golf, donkey rides, electric cars, bungi trampoline bouncers, canoes and rowing boats. Have fun on the fantastically refurbished play area, including climbing wires, swings, slides, roundabouts and the great pirate ship. In the summer months bring a towel and enjoy the large open paddling pool with a water fountain. There are plenty of tables and grass areas for a picnic and light refreshments are available from the Kiosk.
For the sporty visitors there is a Pitch and Putt 9-hole golf course, Footgolf course, tennis courts, skate park and a multi-use games area. The Park is also a fantastic place to jog, walk or cycle around the new footpaths.
Markeaton Craft Village has recently been restored to provide a fantastic place to visit, browse and buy that extra special gift. Craft units include Paint a Pot, Original Monkey, Lilac Joinery, Jumping Clay, Mathew Morris Furniture, Cocoa Tabby Chocolate Shop and more…
Enjoy delicious food, drinks and ice creams at The Orangery Café. This refurbished Grade II listed Orangery overlooks Markeaton Park's formal gardens and can be found in the Craft Village, overlooking the terrace garden. Visit our new ice cream shop, with outdoor seating located in the Craft Village.
But behind the modern day park lays a fascinating history that is waiting to be discovered. The park has many features that mark it’s history including ancient veteran trees, historic lost roads, old arable field patterns, the 18th century park and buildings and the remains of a Second World War army camp.
Throughout the year Markeaton Park hosts a number events from Theatre performances in the Craft Village, open air Cinema, to Charity fun days including the Classic Car Show, Pretty Muddy, Race For Life and fantastic sporting events like the Cycle Derby Sportive through to FREE Family Superhero Picnics or Christmas Family Festivities.
