About

A beautiful sight in South Derbyshire and The National Forest with areas of woodland, grassland, heath and wetland, for you to explore along waymarked footpaths. Features include a community woodland, Jack and Jill willow sculpture, varied wildlife, great views and Carvers Rocks Site of Special Scientific Interest. Linked to Staunton Harold Reservoir by the National Forest's Reservoirs Walk. The site also has a sailing club and fishery. Refreshment kiosk open seasonally, information room and events programme.

Carvers Rocks

Carvers Rocks, at the southern tip of the Foremark Reservoir, is managed by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and is a scheduled Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its geology and plants.

Road Directions

Exit A50 at Junction 3 onto the A514 (heading towards East Midlands Airport and Swarkestone) continuing on this road until you reach Ticknall (towards Swadlincote). (*). As you leave Ticknall turn right (on a left hand bend) towards Milton (Brown Tourism sign to Foremark). The entrance to Foremark Reservoir is about 1 mile down this road on the left hand side. Anyone interested in Fishing or Sailing should continue on about another half mile to a second entrance, again on the left, and follow the access road to the fishing lodge/sailing club (Conservation area - no general public access). From A42 Junction 13 (Ashby de la Zouch) at roundabout, take 1st exit (if travelling from south-4th from north). Go straight across at next roundabout, up over a hill and turn right at next roundabout (B5006 towards Smisby and Ticknall). Turn left at this junction and follow directions above from (*) . From M1 junction 23a (northbound) or 24 (southbound) follow signs for A453 East Midlands Airport and Donington Park Raceway. You will go round a roundabout with a Motorway Service Station on, then straight across 2 roundabouts and 2 sets of traffic lights (airport on right hand side). Continue along this road until you come to a T Junction in Melbourne. Turn left and follow the road through the village. As you leave the village there is a white pub on the right hand side, immediately after this pub turn right towards Ticknall. Follow this road until you come to a T Junction in Ticknall. Turn left and follow directions from (*).
