Spring
Spring is a great time to visit the Peak District and Derbyshire. The countryside comes to life with beautiful flora and fauna and the lighter, warmer days provide the perfect conditions for getting out and about in Britain's original National Park. From seeing new-born animals to venturing on Easter egg hunts, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
From March to May the weather is milder, flowers begin to bloom and there are loads of great events taking place, including the unique local custom of Well Dressing. This famous local tradition dates back hundreds of years and is a must-see for visitors. From May to September, local towns and villages proudly display handmade, floral masterpieces (made using natural materials such as petals and seeds) next to wells to give thanks for the area's fresh-water springs.
From around the end of March onwards, attractions that close over the winter months begin to re-open, making spring the perfect time to visit beautiful historic houses such as Chatsworth ahead of the busier summer months.
Wildflowers and wildlife make spring a special time for exploring and enjoying the Peak District National Park. Look out for new life as you go walking in the countryside, take a stroll around Instagrammable local beauty spots, explore traffic-free cycle routes and trails suitable for all abilities, and soak up the views underneath clear blue skies, and maybe the odd shower...
Whether you're looking for a relaxed spring holiday or family-friendly activities and attractions over the Easter holidays, the Peak District and Derbyshire has loads of amazing places to stay, great things to do and places to explore.
