The town of Chesterfield is synonymous with markets. It has one of the country’s largest open air markets and it acts as a fabulous day out amongst the cobbled streets and stalls.
Having first started trading in the year 1204, the market has been going for over 800 years and it still going strong now running every Monday, Friday and Saturday (excluding Bank Holidays).
Whatever you need, there will be a stall for it! Whether it’s delicious, fresh fruit and veg or homeware and clothing that you’re looking for, you’re sure to find it at Chesterfield Market.
With around 250 stalls each week there’s something for everyone in this bustling market.
Not only does Chesterfield have the outdoor market but it also has the recently-renovated Market Hall featuring stalls selling everything from food and clothes, to books and mobile phones. There are some great cafes and places to eat within this brand new Market Hall too. This indoor gem was named as the UK’s best small indoor market by the National Association of British Market Authorities.
Chesterfield also has a weekly flea market, a monthly farmer’s market and a monthly artisan market.
The Flea market runs every Thursday and is fast becoming one of the most popular places to buy a bargain or a hidden antique.
The Farmer’s market is on the second Thursday of every month and features a stunning selection of fresh, local produce including meats, cheeses and condiments.
The Artisan Market is Chesterfield market’s latest addition and has proved to be popular, running every last Sunday of the month.
