Chatsworth Christmas Markets


5th – 23rd November 2022

Where better to kick-start your Christmas spirit than at one of the best Christmas markets in the country? Soak up the festive atmosphere against the stunning backdrop of Chatsworth as you browse more than 100 stalls offering a wide range of Christmas gifts and decorations. Enjoy a mulled wine or a German beer at one of the outdoor bars, sample delicious food including gourmet burgers and sausages, hot pork rolls, pancakes and churros, and listen to live music that’s sure to get you in the festive mood.


Haddon Hall Mercatum Winter Artisan Market


18th-20th November 2022, 24th-27th November and 1st-4th December 2022

Some of the country’s finest artisans and makers will be brought together in the magnificent surroundings of Haddon Hall’s chambers, gardens and grounds at the Mercatum Winter Artisan Markets. Visitors will be able to weave their way around beautifully-lit stalls in the historic Stables, Lower Courtyard, Banqueting Hall, Long Gallery and Elizabethan gardens.

The hall will be brimming with beautiful decorations, festive music, winter scents and twinkling lights, whilst stalls selling jewellery, candles, woodwork, art, stationery, food and drink will offer something for everyone.


Bakewell Christmas Market


19th-20th November 2022

See the charming streets, courtyards and alleyways of Bakewell brought to life with a sprinkling of Christmas sparkle at the town’s popular annual market. Browse a varied selection of stalls on Market Street, Granby Road and Riverside Crescent and find quality gifts from local traders from across the Peak District and Derbyshire. There’ll also be plenty of mulled wine to keep you warm, as well as entertainment, decorations, baubles and twinkling lights.


 Christmas Past with Father Christmas at Bolsover Castle


26th November-8th December 2022

Join in the festive fun with the man himself at the magical Bolsover Castle this Christmas. Meet Father Christmas as he tells tales of Christmas past amidst the yuletide decorations. Lucky visitors will even get a festive treat! Advance booking essential.  


Shine A Light at Elvaston Castle, Derby


19th & 20th November 2022


Make the most of the dark nights with a visit to the magical Shine A Light displays at Elvaston Castle near Derby. See visually stunning projections on the castle, created by internationally-renowned Derbyshire-born video projection artists Illuminos, and enjoy delicious food, drink and live music.


Chesterfield Crooked Spire Christmas Tree Festival


17th-27th November 2022

The magical Festival of Christmas Trees returns to the Crooked Spire Church with over 80 trees to explore. The Spire is the largest church in Derbyshire and will be filled with Christmas trees.  The trees are decorated by local people, groups and shops, from WIs to scout and guide groups, from schools to high street stores, from accountants to Chesterfield Museum and many more besides.


Matlock Victorian Christmas Market


2nd-4th December 2022

Browse festive goodies at a host of indoor and outdoor stalls at this charming Victorian Christmas Market in Matlock town centre. Discover a wide selection of hand-crafted, artisan goods, local produce and seasonal foods whilst enjoying festive entertainment including Santa's Grotto, a fun fair and live music, topped off with a grand finale fireworks display on Sunday evening. Matlock’s numerous shops, restaurants and cafes will be open throughout the weekend.


Christmas Carol Concerts at Peak Cavern

It’s hard to imagine a more atmospheric and impressive venue for a Christmas Carol concert than Peak Cavern. The Brass bands play a variety of Christmas favourites, both modern songs and traditional carols. Best of all, the audience are enthusiastically involved in the singing.   


Belper Winter Food Festival

Beer, cheese, wine and chocolate… Treat your tastebuds to Christmas food and drink galore at this charming Winter Food Festival taking place in and around Belper’s bustling King Street from 10am until 3pm. Visit Santa at Poole’s Cavern in Buxton

Never mind the North Pole, this popular Christmas event in the magical surroundings of Poole's Cavern in Buxton is an annual sell-out, so be quick! Little ones will love to visit Santa in his beautifully illuminated Elf’s workshop deep underground, surrounded by stalactites and stalagmites. Entrance includes presents for each child.


Buxton Christmas Bazaar and Lights Switch-On


19th-20th November 2022

Visitors to Buxton’s picturesque Promenade can enjoy twinkling lights, a festive atmosphere and fabulous gifts with over 40 Christmas stalls selling seasonal food and drink, Christmas gifts, decorations, hand-crafted jewellery and crafts. There’ll also be a Santa’s Grotto and children’s rides plus stalls, hot food and live music throughout the Crescent and Spring Gardens. The Pavilion Gardens Lights Switch-On takes place at 6.30pm on Saturday 20 Nov, followed by the Crescent Tree Lights Switch on at 7pm with the Lantern Parade on the same date too!

Shine a Light at Barrow Hill Roundhouse


8th and 9th December 2022

See Barrow Hill Roundhouse as you’ve never seen it before – the table turns as this epicentre of railway power erupts into a mighty crucible of light and sound. There is also a Christmas event on Sunday 11th December with carols, crafts and a visit from Santa.

Christmas at Matlock Farm Park


Throughout November and December 2022

Join in with the festive fun at Matlock Farm Park and enjoy lots of animal activities combined with elf fun and a Christmas treasure hunt, perhaps adding on a special visit to Santa’s Grotto too! Join Santa Claus for a hearty breakfast on selected dates, visit his lovely grotto and receive an early Christmas gift, then enjoy a day in the park. There'll also be festive pony rides and all the usual fun of the fark park too, with animal handling, fantastic indoor and outdoor play areas, and delicious refreshments.


Thornbridge Hall Christmas Market, near Bakewell


18th-20th November 2022

Browse quality stalls from 20 local artisans and makers in the beautiful Carriage House at Thornbridge Hall. Discover everything from gin, bean-to-bar chocolate, candles, art, jewellery, and more. The Gardens will also be free to enter on these dates and there is no need to book. The Quackers Cafe will be serving warming festive sweet and savoury treats, mulled wine, and liqueur coffees all weekend. On Saturday 19th November, Father Christmas will be paying a flying visit! Dogs on leads, welcome.


Hardwick Hall Winter Light Trail
