This year, Chatsworth is celebrating 20 magical years of Christmas at the House with displays inspired by the past two decades of spellbinding decorations. Festive scenes will combine nostalgic references to Christmases of years past with the traditions at the heart of Chatsworth’s seasonal celebrations.
The Chapel will come alive with festive music; a kaleidoscope of colour will mingle playfully with gems and minerals from their collection; inventive use of recycled materials will illustrate the potential of sustainable decorating; and no winter celebration would be complete without a sprinkling of the white stuff...


Chatsworth Christmas Markets

Where better to kick-start your Christmas spirit than at one of the best Christmas markets in the country? Soak up the festive atmosphere against the stunning backdrop of Chatsworth as you browse more than 100 stalls offering a wide range of Christmas gifts and decorations. Enjoy a mulled wine or a German beer at one of the outdoor bars, sample delicious food including gourmet burgers and sausages, hot pork rolls, pancakes and churros, and listen to live music that’s sure to get you in the festive mood.


Haddon Hall Mercatum Winter Artisan Market


18 - 21 Nov & 25 - 28 Nov 2021

Some of the country’s finest artisans and makers will be brought together in the magnificent surroundings of Haddon Hall’s chambers, gardens and grounds at the Mercatum Winter Artisan Markets. Visitors will be able to weave their way around beautifully-lit stalls in the historic Stables, Lower Courtyard, Banqueting Hall, Long Gallery and Elizabethan gardens.

The hall will be brimming with beautiful decorations, festive music, winter scents and twinkling lights, whilst stalls selling jewellery, candles, woodwork, art, stationery, food and drink will offer something for everyone.


Bakewell Christmas Market

See the charming streets, courtyards and alleyways of Bakewell brought to life with a sprinkling of Christmas sparkle at the town’s popular annual market. Browse a varied selection of stalls on Market Street, Granby Road and Riverside Crescent and find quality gifts from local traders from across the Peak District and Derbyshire. There’ll also be plenty of mulled wine to keep you warm, as well as entertainment, decorations, baubles and twinkling lights.


Christmas Makers Markets & Lights Switch On at Peak Village


21 Nov & 19 Dec 2021

Eat, drink shop and be merry whilst stocking up on quality festive gifts at Peak Village near Bakewell. Makers Markets will be showcasing quality artisan gifts and delicious street food on 21 Nov and 19 Dec. On 21 Nov there'll also be the Christmas Light Switch On event with performances from Mr & Mrs Claus and their elves plus live music. Parking is free and dogs are welcome too.


Matlock Victorian Christmas Market


3 – 5 Dec 2021

Browse festive goodies at a host of indoor and outdoor stalls at this charming Victorian Christmas Market in Matlock town centre. Discover a wide selection of hand-crafted, artisan goods, local produce and seasonal foods whilst enjoying festive entertainment including Santa's Grotto, a fun fair and live music, topped off with a grand finale fireworks display on Sunday evening. Matlock’s numerous shops, restaurants and cafes will be open throughout the weekend.


Belper Winter Food Festival

Beer, cheese, wine and chocolate… Treat your tastebuds to Christmas food and drink galore at this charming Winter Food Festival taking place in and around Belper’s bustling King Street from 10am until 3pm. With free entry, the festival will serve as a showcase for quality producers selling seasonal food and drink from across the country, whilst the town’s award-winning High Street is the perfect place to start your Christmas shopping.


Family Festivities at Markeaton Park, Derby


4-5 Dec 2021

Enjoy Christmas in the park at Markeaton and discover the free elf trail, festive food, music and much more! There'll be fun for all the family with live music, walkabout acts, festive food and back by popular demand the Pet Grotto, which can be booked in advance. You can enjoy festive food from The Orangery, play a game of festive mini-golf in the Mundy Play Centre (charges apply), join in Derby Santa Run (book in advance) or come and post your downloadable letter to Father Christmas at the Markeaton North Pole post box.


Christmas Adventure Quest at Bolsover Castle

Gather the family together for a great day out at Bolsover Castle and enjoy a fun-filled festive adventure quest at this 17th century ‘party palace’. Cromford Mills Christmas Weekends

Get in the festive spirit and discover perfect presents in the historic surroundings of Cromford Mills. For the first three weekends of December, visitors will be able to enjoy quality festive shopping opportunities from artisan producers, live music from John Gill and Wirksworth Orchestra, delicious winter warmers from the on-site cafés, a Medley Arts & Crafts Show and much more. Visit Santa at Poole’s Cavern in Buxton


4-5 Dec, 11-12 Dec and 18-24 Dec 2021

Never mind the North Pole, this Christmas Santa and his elves will be moving into the magical surroundings of Poole’s Cavern in Buxton. Little ones will love to visit him in his beautifully illuminated Elf’s workshop deep underground, surrounded by stalactites and stalagmites. Entrance includes presents for each child.


Chesterfield Crooked Spire Christmas Tree Festival


18 - 28 Nov 2021

The magical Festival of Christmas Trees returns to the Crooked Spire Church with over 80 trees to explore. The Spire is the largest church in Derbyshire and will be filled with Christmas trees.  The trees are decorated by local people, groups and shops, from WIs to scout and guide groups, from schools to high street stores, from accountants to Chesterfield Museum and many more besides.


Buxton Christmas Bazaar and Lights Switch-On


20 - 21 Nov 2021

Visitors to Buxton’s picturesque Promenade can enjoy twinkling lights, a festive atmosphere and fabulous gifts with over 40 Christmas stalls selling seasonal food and drink, Christmas gifts, decorations, hand-crafted jewellery and crafts. There’ll also be a Santa’s Grotto and children’s rides plus stalls, hot food and live music throughout the Crescent and Spring Gardens. The Pavilion Gardens Lights Switch-On takes place at 6.30pm on Saturday 20 Nov, followed by the Crescent Tree Lights Switch on at 7pm with the Lantern Parade on the same date too!


Winter Wonderland at Conkers

Wrap up warm and get ready for a silly Elf adventure as you arrive at Conkers’ Winter Wonderland, where Santa’s Chief Elf and his team will send you through the Enchanted Forest and the Valley of Christmas Lights to discover Santa’s Woodland Grotto.
Take a trip on Head Elf’s Twinkle Toes Train through the tunnel of discovery, and don’t miss the chance to meet the story-telling Barny Owl and Singing Reindeer trio!


Santa's Snowlympics at Bluebell Dairy near Derby

Santa and his team have brought some peculiar polar inhabitants to Bluebell Dairy in Spondon this year. You’ll no doubt be expecting Santa, and a few elves too, but other inhabitants have come along for the ride and they want visitors to take part in some of their brand-new games! Celebrate the joys of winter at the interactive Snowlympics and practice your snowball skills in the Snow Contest, relax in the Alpine Bar and help with the Tree-mendous Fashion Show.
It's never too cold for ice cream and no visit would be complete without sampling Bluebell Dairy’s award-winning, luxury ice-cream, either!


The Snowman™ and The Snowdog Trail in Swadlincote

Take a magical wintry walk around Swadlincote and enjoy The Snowman™ and The Snowdog sculpture trail this Christmas (20 Nov – 16 Jan). Inspired by the animated sequel to Raymond Briggs’ timeless picture book The Snowman™, there will be 20 giant The Snowman™ and Snowdog sculptures dotted in and around the town centre for visitors to discover. With themes of friendship, imagination and adventure, it’s the ultimate festive story to explore with friends and family.
