Take a look at our pick of these egg-cellent events and activities to keep the whole family entertained, whatever the weather.

Matlock Farm Park

Join the Easter Eggstravaganza at Matlock Farm Park
Nothing says Easter like the chance to bottle-feed lambs and hold baby chicks. At Matlock Farm Park, visitors can do all of this and more – with lamb bottle feeding each day, pony rides, chick handling and the chance to meet all the Farm Park animals. On Easter Sunday, get up close to reptiles and exotic animals, including bearded dragons, chameleons, snakes and a furry skunk. On Easter Monday, enjoy circus skills and try your hand at stilt-walking, plate-spinning and juggling.

Calling all valiant adventurers! Until 28th April, budding explorers can descend on Bolsover Castle to hunt for legendary dragon eggs. Set off with an intrepid character from the past to crack the clues then claim your chocolate reward at the end!

Discover Alice’s Easter Egg-stravaganza at Peak Shopping Village
This Alice in Wonderland-themed event at Peak Shopping Village in Rowsley includes Easter egg hunts with Alice and the Mad Hatter, Easter crafts, face painting, live performances from roaming interactive characters, photo opportunities and the chance to ride on Peaky the Easter Eggspress train.

Embark on an Easter adventure at Chatsworth
Until 28th April, visitors to Chatsworth House – the magnificent home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire – can enjoy Easter face painting, egg hunts, an Easter trail and British bird crafts and activities in the garden, a trailer discovery tour and rides on the Easter Eggspress. There’s even the chance to get hands-on in caring for the Chatsworth farmyard animals.

Celebrate 35 years of cable cars at The Heights of Abraham
Easter Sunday marks 35 years since the famous cable cars first started to operate in Matlock Bath. Enjoy a ride on the award-winning cable cars and experience the summit attractions, including two showcaves, adventure playgrounds, exhibitions and galleries. Easter events at The Heights include a Selfie competition to win a free Family Annual Pass (20th-22nd April), children’s crafts (21st-22nd April) and live music on the patio outside the Vista Restaurant (Sunday 21st only).

Take a step back in time for the WWII Home Front event at Crich Tramway Village
Visitors to Crich Tramway Village, home of the National Tramway Museum this Easter, can experience life during the Second World War featuring re-enactors, music, activities and vehicles from the era. A replica Spitfire will be on display and, of course, there'll be plenty of opportunities to ride on vintage trams too!

Follow Alice down the giant rabbit hole into Wonderland, and join the White Rabbit Easter Egg Hunt at Bluebell Dairy. Give the rabbit a helping hand in finding all of the tasty chocolate, then enjoy adventures with the Queen of Hearts including Royal Croquet and the What a Card show.

From 19th to 22nd April, the Easter Bunny will be around and about Haddon Hall and Gardens, interacting with visitors as they wander this magnifcient medieval house. Children can have their hands painted with Easter characters and there’ll be fun for the whole family, including archery. On Sunday 21st, there’ll even be classic guitar in the Banqueting Hall – adding to the atmosphere at this ancient medieval hall.

Spring into Easter at Cromford Mills
Experience spring at the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, where the flowers will be blooming. From 20th to 22nd April, Easter events at Cromford Mills include a fantastic Owl and Bird Display, the Great Mill Egg Hunt, family craft activities, an artisan market, live music and displays.
