There aren't many places where you can watch thrilling grand ring attractions, try your hand at fly fishing, see celebrity chefs in action and buy the latest country clothing – all in one day. But there's nothing quite like the annual Chatsworth Country Fair, one of England's most spectacular outdoor events. This year's event returns from Friday 31st August - Sunday 2nd September 2018. Here's our pick of the five things you must tick off your list when visiting...

JCB's Dancing Diggers

1 - Exciting Grand Ring entertainment

Chatsworth Country Fair's action-packed Grand Ring programme includes stunt teams, JCB’s Dancing Diggers, the mounted games, falconry, dog racing, scurry driving and The Household Cavalry Musical Ride. Above the ground, The Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will welcome a Spitfire on Saturday and the Lancaster on Sunday, and there’ll be aerobatic displays from the Global Stars flight team on all three days.

2 - Celebrity chefs in action

Watch some of the nation's favourite chefs whip up culinary delights then browse, nibble and drink your way around the Fine Food Village. This year’s line-up in The Stoves Cookery Demonstration Theatre includes Nadiya Hussain (Friday), Mary Berry (Saturday) and Paul Hollywood (Sunday) along with some fantastic local chefs.

Vintage fairground

3 - Good old-fashioned fun

Test your nerve on the climbing wall and spider mountain, encounter exotic animals including mammals, reptiles and birds, get involved in zorbing or head to the vintage fairground for a ride on the big wheel - there's plenty to entertain children of all ages, all day long.

Have-A-Go Archery

4 - Have-a-go at something new

Think you're a good shot? From clay pigeon shooting and rifle shooting to fly fishing and archery, let the experts guide you as you try your hand at country pursuits. Traditional rural crafts are celebrated in the Countryman’s ring where you'll find demonstrations of dry-stone walling, beekeeping and basket weaving.

Shopping at Chatsworth Country Fair

5 - Shop 'til you drop

Away from the main ring, take time to explore the hundreds of high quality trade stands. There’ll be gifts and goodies to suit all tastes – from high quality country clothing to gifts, homeware, jewellery and fine food and drink. It’s a great chance to purchase everything you need for the new season too!
