February Half Term in Derbyshire & the Peak District is a time filled with loads of family-friendly events and great things to do, so why not get everyone together and enjoy some quality family time? We’re located right in the middle of the country, making it the ideal place for an extended family gathering too!

There’s loads of fun stuff to fill your half-term days with, like special events at the Tropical Butterfly House, Bolsover Castle and Matlock Farm Park. There’s also loads of great days out in Derbyshire and the Peak District that whole families will love, like the Heights of Abraham and the Farmyard at Chatsworth.


Medieval Mayhem at Bolsover Castle

Bolsover Castle is always a fantastic family day out, but this February half term brings some extra fun stuff! The special ‘Medieval Mayhem’ event will bring Knights, squire training and games to test everyone’s medieval skills and courage!

Heights of Abraham, Matlock

The Heights of Abraham is a completely unique family attraction in Derbyshire, making it one of the area’s ‘must-sees’. Located in Matlock Bath, you can get a cable car all the way up to the top of the Matlock Hills, enjoy the wonderful views from the top, to discover amazing caverns, fossil exhibitions and adventure playgrounds!

Dinosaurs – Tropical Butterfly House

This February half term there’s an addition to the Tropical Butterfly Centre … a T-Rex! Your family can meet a real (looking) T-Rex and his keeper, take a ‘dino-selfie’, explore the Dinosaur Trail, meet a baby Triceratops and take part in similarly themed games and crafts!

So, if you know a Dinosaur fan, this is the place to go this February half term.

You'll also get to experience all of the usual cuteness at the Tropical Butterly House too!

Half term fun at Harley Gallery

This February half term, the Harley Gallery are celebrating all-things circus. There’re loads of great creative crafts to have a go at from the 19th to the 23rd of February, including: child-friendly clay workshops, create your own circus hat, make a shadow puppet, paint-a-pot and even a circus skills workshop!

Matlock Farm Park – Wonderdome

Matlock Farm Park are going to host a 360 degree cinema dome to take you on a planetary journey … it’s set to be so fun that your little ones won’t even realise it’s educational.

All of that and you’ll still get to experience all of the fun on the farm at Matlock Farm Park, too.

Half Term in the Farmyard at Chatsworth

The Farmyard at Chatsworth is always a winner with kids, there’s a fantastic woodland playground, sand pits, trampolines, slides and a rope park – a perfect place for families to enjoy some proper fun together during February half term.

There's also a pirate-themed fun on our trailer ride especially for this half term break!


Peak Wildlife Park

Would you be excited at the thought of taking a walk with the penguins, lemurs and pigs…? Peak Wildlife Park offer this amazing experience, as well as having other great animals to see and learn about, including meerkats and wallabies!


The Vikings at Chesterfield Museum

Here’s a chance for little ones to see what every day Viking life was like in this hands-on exhibition at Chesterfield Museum!
