2017 saw the first ever RHS Chatsworth flower show, and it was a special as it sounds.

With Chatsworth house glistening away, the show itself was held just below, along the banks of the river.

There were marvellous floral marquees, astounding botanical displays and a massive disco ball, surrounded by a cage of greenery.

But amongst all of that, at least in our eyes, the real gem of the show was the Experience Peak District & Derbyshire show garden- which we can announce won the Silver Gilt Award!

The most eye-catching element to our garden, designed by the very talented Lee Bestall, were the life-sized cows!

Sprayed in bronze, silver and gold, our three cows were much admired- even if the wind did get the better of their balance once or twice.

Fenced by two traditional and rustic metal gates, the front part of the garden had two areas of rough grass, cultivated over four years and peppered with local wild flowers.

This is juxtaposed by the upper level of garden which has a much more formal feel. The two levels are distinguished by a ‘ha-ha’ wall with the higher level designed in the Italianate style, with traditional hedges and some strikingly delicate flowers. A few of the blooms included were: Geraniums, Iris, Lupines ‘Royal Velvet’ and Veronica ‘Blue Bomb’.

Within the flowers and throughout the garden were specially selected jewellery by C. W. Sellors Fine Jewellery, our main sponsors:

The focal point for the formal garden is a 17th century statue from the gardens at Renishaw, where it will return to after the show- in fact, the whole garden is going to be shipped up and re-set to be displayed at Renishaw once the RHS show has ended. This means there'll be more chances to get a glimpse at this award-winning show garden in the not-so-distant future!

Others who contributed towards the making of this wonderful garden are, Camping & Caravanning Club, Hope Cement a Breedon Group Company,  Peak District Premier Cottages and The Bakewell Bakery.

Another memorable part of the show were local Well Dressings displays:

... and lots of other creative floral displays!
