About
The Chequers offers innovative cuisine. We have been awarded an AA Rosette for the standard of our food every year since 2004, testament to the hard work and dedication of all our team.
Our menu changes throughout the year to reflect the season and being located in the Peak District we are fortunate to have some fantastic food and drink suppliers right on our doorstep which we actively promote and use. Our Pub Classics consists of favourites such as East Coast haddock with Bakewell Bitter batter and our famous Proper Steak and local ale pie. Our ever changing selection of dishes on our Blackboard Menu reflects seasonal produce and includes fresh fish and meat dishes, a further vegetarian option and local game when in season. During the day we also offer a comprehensive sandwich, small plates and salad menu, for those wanting a lighter bite to eat. We can cater for the majority of diets as well as offering a young diners menu. We also have a private area of the bar that can be booked for private dining for up to 20 guests.
We offer a great value traditional Sunday Lunch menu on Sundays. Freshly roasted Loin of Pork or Sirloin of Beef are served with homemade Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roasties and seasonal vegetables. Perfect for either a winters day in front of our log fire after a long walk in the Peaks or just a good excuse for meeting up with friends and family.
Our real ales are all brewed from small independent breweries from within 15 miles of The Chequers. Beers from Peak Ales on the Chatsworth Estate, Bradfield Brewery in Sheffield and Kelham Island Brewery, Sheffield are a mainstay on our bar. Unsuprisingly, we also have a Sheffield Lager on draft!
In addition to our local beers, we also also offer a comprehensive wine selection, both by the glass and bottle, along with a great choice of interesting gins and whiskies.
