    Chatsworth

Chatsworth is a place to learn, explore and create in the heart of the Peak District National Park.

    About

Chatsworth is a place to learn, explore and create in the heart of the Peak District National Park. It comprises a Grade I listed house and stables, a 105-acre garden, a farmyard and adventure playground, and more than 1800 acres of parkland and historic woodland that is free to access and enjoy all year round.

Chatsworth is cared for by Chatsworth House Trust, a registered charity established in 1981. All income from admissions, Gift Aid, membership, sponsorship and donations goes directly to the charity to be reinvested in the conservation and improvement of Chatsworth for everyone, and in a year-round programme of events, exhibitions, learning and community outreach.

Chatsworth has been the home of the Devonshire family since the 1550s and has evolved to reflect the tastes, passions and interests of seventeen succeeding generations.

    House

Chatsworth has long been known as a centre for creativity. Discover art and artefacts that span 4,000 years up to the present day, including paintings, sculpture, textiles, furniture and more. There are more than 25 rooms to explore, including the Painted Hall, Chapel, Sculpture Gallery and State Rooms.

From November, experience the house and garden transformed for Christmas, with decorations and a light trail inspired by a different theme each year.

    Garden

Lose yourself in the 105-acre Chatsworth Garden, with modern and historic waterways, a Victorian rock garden, arboretum, grotto, rose garden, kitchen and cutting garden and much, much more.

    Farmyard and Adventure Playground

Meet the animals and join craft sessions, animal handling talks and milking parlour demonstrations. From the farmyard, children can take the secret tunnel to the playground for exciting climbing, swinging and water-play adventures.

    Cafes and Restaurants

Enjoy fresh, seasonal dishes made with ingredients from Chatsworth and local farmers and suppliers. Try afternoon tea in the Cavendish Restaurant or ice cream sundaes in the Parlour, or salads and stone-baked flatbreads at Chatsworth Kitchen at Peak Village in Rowsley. A range of hotels and inns in Pilsley, Beeley and Baslow on the Chatsworth Estate serve homemade food throughout the day.

    Gift Shops

Discover a collection of products and produce inspired by Chatsworth’s heritage, art and nature, and sourced from the estate and makers and artists from across Derbyshire and the Peak District.

    Events

Experience a year-round programme of events, including art and nature-themed courses for adults and children; a family festival; garden and plant fair; outdoor theatre, music and film; bonfire and fireworks display and Chatsworth International Horse Trials (May) and Chatsworth Country Fair (August). From November, enjoy a Christmas market and the house and garden decorated for Christmas, plus a full programme of season workshops, talks and tours.

    Chatsworth Farm Shop and Cafe

Established in 1977, the award-winning Chatsworth Farm Shop at Pilsley sells estate-reared lamb, venison and beef; vegetables, fruit and flowers from the Chatsworth Garden; and a wide range of food, drink and artisan products sourced within a 30-mile radius.

Enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch, or barista coffee and homemade cake with far-reaching countryside views at the Chatsworth Farm Shop Café.
