A small village just 3 miles from Alfreton, Blackwell was a coal mining area since Medieval times but, today, nothing of the industry remains. St Werburgh's Church stands on Church Hill and is a venue for an annual flower festival in June.Book Tickets

Road Directions
From North/South
Leave M1 at junction 28 and follow A38 towards Alfreton for approx 3 miles. Leave by exit slip road and, at roundabout, take 3rd exit (A61 signposted Chesterfield). Follow road for approx 1¼ miles and turn right onto B6025 (signposted Westhouses). Follow road for approx 1¼ miles and, at sharp left hand bend (just past Church) go straight on (signposted Blackwell). Follow road into village.
From East
Follow A38 to junction with M1 motorway, then follow route from North/South.
From West
Follow A610 from Ambergate to junction with A38 and, at roundabout, take first exit onto A38. Follow road for approx 2¼ miles and, at roundabout, take 1st exit (A61 signposted Chesterfield), then follow route from North/South.
