The village has a small number of local shops, a petrol station, as well as pubs and accommodation, including the well regarded and multi-award winning 'Yorkshire Bridge Inn'. There lots going on with arts events, annual sheepdog trails, carnival and a well dressing in the village. The Upper Derwent Visitor Centre is just 500 metres from the Derwent Dam and acts as a focus for the two million walkers, cyclists and tourists that make the journey into this beautiful valley each year. Cycle and mobility scooter hire, refreshments, and gift shop. Ladybower Fishery and Severn Trent Water welcome fly-fishing, rowing boats can also be hired for fishing.
