AboutHaving spent much of my childhood and formative years exploring the caves, dales and hills of the Peak District, I enjoy the challenge of finding a detail or intimacy in the landscape that is not immediately apparent and working to photograph a pleasing image.
Being out and about on the Derbyshire Moorlands in the early hours, when hardly a soul is around, does give one a sense of being in the wilderness and one often unexpectedly encounters a scene or animal that is rarely seen later in the day. It gives a rare feeling of intimacy with the natural environment. Sometimes this gives the opportunity for a photograph and sometimes I go specifically with this in mind. One thing for sure, it rarely goes to plan and I regularly come back with an image I was not expecting.
I enjoy being in the wilderness which makes me feel a bit closer to nature so it is a natural development to work on some wildlife photography, something I really enjoy. I have a small but growing collection of nature images.
I take photographs because I enjoy doing so, it is an obsession because I work hard to be the best I can. It is pleasing when others enjoy my images too."
