    About

Thornbridge Hall is a Grade II listed stately home in the heart of the peak district. It is surrounded by 12 acres of quintessentially English gardens set within 100 acres of privately owned parkland. Designed at the end of the 19th Century to create a vision of '1,000 shades of green', The gardens are a perfect example of Victorian drive, determination and engineering to manipulate the landscape into a series of garden rooms. First opened to the public in the 1930s, the areas include an Italian Garden, water gardens, grottos, Kitchen Garden, Scented Terrace and the Koi Lake amongst others. There are temples, statues and fountains scattered across the gardens and plenty of other surprises along the way.You can take a little piece of the gardens home with you by visiting the Garden Centre. Located by the Orangery, the nursery has a huge range of plants available to purchase or simply to look at. The majority are grown from seeds, cuttings and divisions from the gardens. The Garden Centre is available to enter without entry to the gardens, as is the wonderful Café.You can enjoy locally sourced food and drink at Quackers Café as well as enjoying the views of the garden. The café has amazing cakes and treats handmade on site as well as boasting a delicious menu which changes with the seasons. Throughout autumn there are fire pits to sit by as well as Dog Days every Sunday which are fun for all the family and you can win prizes, partake in competitions and enjoy a day with the animals. .There are plenty of events all year round at Thornbridge Hall including Christmas & Halloween events, performances, lectures, book readings and plenty of children’s activities. You can stay up to date with all the goings on by signing up to the mailing list from the website or following Thornbridge Hall on Facebook and Instagram. Thornbridge Estate also offers three tiers of membership options; Bronze, Silver and Gold. Any one of these allows you to become a member of the Thornbridge Club and includes lots of special benefits.
