Thornbridge Brewery

The brewery was originally based in the outbuildings of Thornbridge Hall, surrounded beautiful gardens within the 100-acre estate.

About

The Thornbridge story began back in 2005 when the founders Jim Harrison and Simon Webster recruited two young brewers to brew on a second hand 10-barrel kit in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall.

The brewery was originally based in the outbuildings of Thornbridge Hall, surrounded by beautiful gardens within the 100-acre estate. The buildings were renovated in 2004 in preparation for the brewery installation. Jim Harrison and Simon Webster recruited two young brewers, keen to kick-start their brewing career. Their first brew was Lord Marples, a 4% classic bitter, which went on to become a core Thornbridge beer

The new, state of the art brewery and shop was opened in Bakewell, at the Riverside Industrial Estate in September 2009, where it has grown year on year. Currently, in 2022, The Taproom has moved into a new and even bigger unit, seating over 200 people and often putting on events within excess of 300 people attending. The Taproom is open 7 days a week and includes a shop open daily from 10am. Here, you can sample some of the beers from our 4 cask and 12 keg lines, brewed literally a stones throw away! Food is served 7 days a week from 12pm, our pizzas are made using our legendary dough recipe and need to be tasted if you're in the area! Expect to find our range of Thornbridge clothing, T-shirts, jackets and hats along with our range of award winning beers and other exciting goodies in our shop, perfect to take home for yourself or as presents for others. We offer a 'Thornbridge Experience', enabling us to show our guests just how the brewery started, how we brew our famous international beer, and where we stand to date. These run at different times throughout the day, 7 days a week.
