The Hayloft at Breech House, Waterfall
Beautiful farmhouse in the picturesque village of Waterfall, ideally situated for walking, cycling and exploring the southern White Peak area and The Roaches. The Hayloft has a double bedroom, ensuite and lounge.
About
Clare and Vince welcome you to our beautifully renovated and extended farmhouse in Waterfall, a conservation village just inside the southern border of the Peak Park. The Manifold Track starts less than a mile away, with easy links to a network of cycle routes, and the quiet lanes are ideal for cycling. Local attractions are Thor’s Cave, Ilam Hall, Dovedale and the stunning hills, Bunster and Thorpe Cloud. Less well known and within easy reach are the Churnet valley and The Roaches. The Red Lion pub is ten minutes’ walk, whilst the attractive and lively market towns of Leek and Ashbourne are 15 minutes’ drive away.
The Hayloft is separate from the main house, retaining some original features and converted to a modern, comfortable living space, with an oak floor and underfloor heating. Off the double bedroom is an ensuite toilet and washbasin. The separate lounge has comfortable seating and TV, with superfast broadband and wi-fi. Downstairs is a shower room reserved for your exclusive use. We provide all linen and towels, including bath robes.
Tea and coffee making equipment and supplies are provided and there is a guest fridge downstairs for your packed lunch supplies, snacks etc. There is a picnic table outside.
Breakfast is served in our dining room, with log burner for winter, or in the courtyard if the weather is warm. The menu always includes home made fresh bread and cereals, home preserves, fresh fruit and a choice of freshly cooked dishes, featuring our own or local produce as available.
Living on a high point, we enjoy wonderful views over our fields and across an upland landscape. We love the outdoors and have created a cottage garden and great places to relax outside, taking advantage of both morning sun and stunning sunsets. Guests are welcome to explore and use all of this, and our smallholding with traditional breeds of animals and a recently planted woodland copse.
We offer secure bike storage and drying facilities for wet clothing, boots etc. Parking is opposite the house, on our land, and we can provide charging for electric vehicles and e-bikes.
Having lived in the area for many years, we are keen walkers and cyclists and are very happy to advise on days out and route planning. There are guides and maps for you to borrow.
We have two cats and a collie dog, all friendly and excluded from the guest accommodation. Because of these and our farm animals, we are unable to accommodate pets.
The accommodation is upstairs, well-lit and easily accessible for reasonably mobile guests but unsuitable for guests who are unable to climb stairs. The wet room shower is accessible.
