About
A first class welcome awaits at Haddock Hideaway. Situated in the heart of Castleton, at the base of Peveril Castle an English Heritage site, we offer an ideal base to explore the Peak District. Our rooms offer self catering accommodation and provide a great alternative to the traditional bed and breakfast, with space to relax at the end of the day. Although with a local bakery, six pubs and lots of cafes on the doorstep where you can enjoy a different breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday you might not want to stay in. We are also here to help if you need us and are more than happy to provide local insight.
We have two studio apartments, The "Upper Styx" double en-suite apartment is a comfortable first floor space looking out onto the Castle. The apartment has a double bedroom with good sized en-suite shower room, a lounge with colour TV with Freeview, separate bathroom, kitchen/diner with cooker, hob, fridge, microwave and tea and coffee-making facilities. The "Lower Styx" Double Studio is a comfortable ground floor studio with separate snug and log burner. The studio has a double bed with good sized bath/shower room, a lounge area with colour TV with Freeview and kitchenette with cooker, hob, fridge, microwave and tea and coffee-making facilities. The studio and apartment also have a sofabed meaning they can sleep 4 comfortably. We also have a double en-suite room "Inner Styx" which can be booked alongside the apartments or on its own however there are no self catering facilities in this room. Many of our guests enjoy coming away with friends and booking all rooms so you can share a home away from home.
Castleton is one of the most popular centres in the Peak District. Maybe this is because it has everything the visitor might want - picturesque scenery, a ruined Norman castle, Mam Tor, Blue John stone showcaves, Treak Cliff Cavern and Speedwell Cavern, interesting geology, good walks and a pretty village, but its also easy to access attractions throughout the Peak District.
