Derwent Cycle Hire
Discover easy, family-friendly cycle routes in the Upper Derwent
About
Discover a range of routes from easy and family-friendly to strenuous and challenging in the beautiful Upper Derwent Valley. Choose from 11 or 6 mile routes around the water or if you’re feeling adventurous go off the beaten track. Our cycle centre at Fairholmes offers a choice of bikes for hire, including adult and child cycles, trail-a-bikes, tandems, buggies, and mobility scooters. Friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to offer help and advice and can repair small mechanical problems or fully service your bike. With a combination of water, woodlands and high moorland, the area has become a unique place for wildlife and cycling is permitted on bridleways, not on footpaths or open moorland. To help you plan your route, the nearby visitor centre provides maps and guides of the area while the refreshment kiosk serves a range of tasty treats. Ranger services, toilets (including disabled facilities) and a picnic area are also on site.Terms and conditions of cycle hire: Proof of ID with photograph is required for each booking. Payment can be made by cash or card. Deposits (£20 1-5 bikes) must be made in cash and will be refunded when bikes are returned undamaged and on time. Helmets are included in hire.
