About

"Set on the edge of the Peak District, Bradstones and Weathericks are two beautifully presented, luxury self-catering cottages.

Overlooking the historic market town of  Wirksworth the cottages provide an excellent base for a holiday in the Peaks, famous for its stunning scenery.

Both cottages have been awarded 5 stars and gold awards by the English Tourist Board plus the EQM, Walkers Welcome and Cyclists Welcome awards so you can book with confidence, knowing that your walking and cycling needs will be met. For birdwatchers the cottages are ideal, teeming with birds and wildlife. You can often spot a buzzard or our local peacock - Mr Darcy. Guests have access to the surrounding fields to join the numerous public footpaths nearby. Wildlife Photography hides have been positioned within the fields offering visitors with an eye for photography, the chance to take images of the wildlife that visits the farm.

The surrounding area is ideal for, walking cycling, climbing, wildlife or general site-seeing. Dovedale Bakewell and Chatsworth House are all within the local area as well as Carsington Water Resevoir which is visible from the cottages. For the more adventurous,Alton Towers is a half hour drive away.

Derbyshire boasts a wealth of excellent pubs and restaurants or meals out or if you prefer, why not buy direct from the local farm-shops and producers nearby. Relax and dine outside your cottage on a warm evening and take in the views.

Both cottages have traditional stable doors to the large kitchen diners with full beamed ceilings with plenty of character and charm and equipped with every luxury you need for your stay.

Weathericks lounge has further beams and feature sandstone fireplace with black inset log burning effect stove. The patio doors lead onto your own private seating area and the stunning views across Carsington Water.  Upstairs the main bedroom has an Indigo Superking bed, character beams and old pine furniture, leading from here is the second bedroom with two single beds, suitable for families or good friends

Bradstones lounge has a full-beamed ceiling, feature stone walls, and an imposing stone fireplace with a gas coal effect log burning stove. A set of French doors leads onto a patio area complete with furniture. The master bedroom suite is spacious with an Indigo Superking bed, comfortable seating area which can be used as an occasional bed for one adult or two children and an En suite shower room. The two remaining bedrooms each have two full sized single beds with Egyptian cotton bedding and luxury towels. The family bathroom has a whirlpool bath with shower over.

Road Directions

Take J25 off the M1 motorway, take A52 towards Derby and Ashbourne and follow this through Derby and Ashbourne. From Ashbourne take the B5035 to Wirksworth and Matlock. Follow this through Kniveton (3m) and Knockerdown (5m) and Carsington (7m). take the right turn signposted to Wirksworth approximately 8m from Ashbourne. Continue uphill for 200 yards and turn right into the drive for Windmill Farm.
