    Thorpe Cottage is a 17th century grade II listed cottage in the centre of the village of Ashford in the Water, famous for its picturesque medieval Sheepwash Bridge. In June the village has their Well Dressing celebrations which are unique to the Peak District and Derbyshire. When it comes to eating and drinking, there's plenty of choice, two pubs and a traditional English tea room, as well as a well-stocked village shop. Ashford is an ideal base for walkers or cyclists who want to explore the Peak District. Close to Chatsworth House & Haddon Hall and Bakewell.

    As you enter through the small walled front garden of Thorpe Cottage, you walk into the lounge with beamed ceiling, part oak panel, original gritstone fireplace with Coalbrookdale cast iron stove (gas) and window seat which all add considerable charm and character to the cottage. Off the lounge is a small room, useful for storage. The kitchen dining area to the rear is fitted with all the essential equipment you will require. From the lounge the winding stairs lead to the first floor and the bathroom comprising of bath with shower over, hand basin and toilet. Off a small landing is the spacious and well fitted bedroom with double bed, along with the original bedroom fireplace. At the rear of the cottage is a yard with outbuildings.

    Thorpe Cottage is a ideal place for those who enjoy to walk and cycle. It is only two miles away from the must see town of Bakewell, which boasts many attractions including;- Bakewell Church; Bakewell Old House Museum; Hassop Station; Haddon Hall; Magpie Mine; Monsal Head; Monsal Trail; Old House Museum; Youlgrave Church; Chatsworth which hosts the RHS Chatsworth in June each year and its Country Fair in early September.

    A short drive away takes you to Matlock and Matlock Bath, (Heights of Abraham, Gullivers), Buxton, Pooles Cavern; Go Ape, Pavilion Gardens, Buxton Opera House and Castleton with its Blue John Caverns; Peveril Castle and Mam Tor.
