AboutThe Old Smithy which dates back to the 17th Century is situated in the peaceful village of Curbar and is ideally located to enjoy the beautiful scenery and picturesque historic villages of the Derbyshire Peak District. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are nearby.
This area of Derbyshire is a ramblers paradise with Curbar/Froggatt/Baslow Edges on the doorstep and the Derwent Valley, Monsal Dale and Trail and the rugged High Peak close by. Cycling, horse riding and adventure sports are also readily available in the area and the local terrain is ideal for mountain biking.
We offer you a stay in the Horseshoe Annex which combines friendly hospitality and privacy. The annex is a real gem which has recently been renovated to a high standard. It provides guests with accommodation consisting of an entrance hall which leads you to a top quality shower room with a large shower cubicle. A staircase takes you to a comfortable and well equipped double bedroom.
Traditional cooked breakfast or lighter versions are available from 7.30-9.00am and are served in The Old Smithy House. There is a good choice of pubs and restaurants in the area. Some are within walking distance.
Rock climbing and paragliding closeby. Horse riding in the village. Swimming 4 miles away in either Bakewell or Hathersage. Golf available at Bakewell or Bamford. Cycle hire available on the Monsal Trail.

This 1st floor bedroom is accessed via a staircase directly off the entrance hall and has a comfortable standard double bed with white cotton sheets and duvet. A flat screen TV, radio and hair dryer are provided and a selection of complimentary beverages and biscuits are on offer. The Horseshoe Lodge is centrally heated with thermostatically controlled radiators. The ground floor shower room provides a large walk -in shower cubicle, with rain shower head, heated towel rail and underfloor heating. White fluffy towels are available and complimentary toiletries are provided. Guests have their own door key to the private Annex so that they can come and go as they please.|

Map & Directions
Take the turning for Curbar off the A623 at the southern edge of Calver Village. Go into Curbar Lane directly opposite The Bridge Inn Pub and with the church on your right. Climb Curbar lane for 350m and then take a sharp left turn into Pinfold Hill. The Old Smithy is the 2nd house on the right.
The nearest major railway station is Chesterfield and buses run from Chesterfield with a stop at the bottom of Curbar Hill. There is also a train station at Grindleford but with no connecting buses.
