The George Hotel

A Derbyshire Hotel ideally located for walking, bird watching and cycling in the heart of the Peak District, Derbyshire

Formerly a 500 year old Inn, the George has been transformed into a relaxing haven in which to unwind.

The George is bursting at the seams with history and provenance. The 6th Duke of Devonshire was its first registered owner and it provided regular visitor, Charlotte Bronte, with much inspiration for her masterpiece, Jane Eyre.

Stories are shared of a knight called George, who’s crusade against dragons brought him to Hathersage

Whether you’re looking for a local place to stop or somewhere to take a load off, we’ve got your back – literally.  Our contemporary guest rooms are perfect for a restful night’s sleep in the warmth and comfort of a modern coaching inn.

All of our rooms have been tested by ourselves to ensure that we would be happy to sleep there and guess what?  We didn’t want to leave!

Set in the heart of the top hidden gem destination for UK holidays, The George is the perfect place to rest one’s head.
