*We have a 2 night minimum stay policy which is £230 midweek and £250 at weekends, 3 nights is £300, 4 nights is £375, 5 nights is £450, 6 nights £500 and 7 nights £550.

Accessibility

  • Elderly and less mobile - Speedwell Stable is all on one level apart from a small lip to enter, and has a patio outside. Please note Speedwell Barn is much less suited as the bedroom is on a mezzanine floor accessed by a spiral staircase
  • Part-time wheelchair users - Speedwell Stable is all on one level with a small lip on the door entry. In addition there is a patio outside. There is however hardcore limestone chippings on the driveway entrance/exit. Speedwell Barn is not suitable as the bedroom is on a mezzanine floor accessed by a Spiral Staircase

  • Children welcome - Please note there is only one bedroom in each barn. In the Stable this is on the ground floor and in the Barn this is on a mezzanine floor. There is then, in addition, a large pull out double sofa bed in the lounge areas of the barn and the stable.

Road Directions

DIRECTIONS FROM THE EAST, M1, SHEFFIELD, CHESTERFIELD, HOPE ETC    From Hope (A6187) into Castleton, through Hope village and past Hope Valley College and into the village of Castleton, the first pub you see on your left is the Cheshire Cheese, continue through the village  and there is a left hand bend. (The post office is on the right of the bend). Then the road bends again to the right with the Nags Head pub on the left. Continue forward to the small roundabout (The Castleton National Park Visitor Centre is set back from the roundabout on the right). Go straight over the roundabout.  We are just a little further up the road on the right hand side next door to the Outdoor Clothes Shop, don't go very far please or you will pass Speedwell House! Please drive down the side of the house through the gate where there is a carpark at the rear with one allocated parking space for Speedwell Barn, the 3rd space and one for Speedwell Stable, the 4th space.     DIRECTIONS FROM THE WEST, MANCHESTER, M6, A6, WINNATS PASS ETC    Come down Winnats Pass, (enjoy the view if you are the passenger!) and at the bottom of the pass you will see Speedwell Cavern on the right hand side just over the cattle grid. Further down the road there is a T junction - turn right. You will then see a sign for Castleton with a few houses on the left and the Car park for "Devils Arse" Cavern on the right. The Peveril Centre Methodist Church is on the left (the largest building on Buxton Road), and Speedwell House is next door. Please drive down the side of the house through the gate where there is a carpark at the rear with one allocated parking space Speedwell Barn, the 3rd space and one for Speedwell Stable, the 4th space.      Welcome to Speedwell House
