About
The Roseleigh Guest House is an AA 4 Gold Star establishment offering bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation, whilst also listed in the Good Hotel Guide for 5 years (2018-2022).
It is a comfortable and elegant Victorian Guest House, centrally located in Buxton over-looking the Pavilion Gardens. Built in 1871, it is situated on Broad Walk, a peaceful pedestrianised Victorian promenade. A short walk takes you to the heart of Buxton where you can fill your own water bottle from the permanent flow of Buxton Mineral Water at St Ann’s well in front of The Crescent (the centrepiece of the Fifth Duke of Devonshire's plans to establish a fashionable Georgian spa town in Buxton. The grade 1 listed building is one of the most architecturally significant buildings in the country).
From the moment you arrive, Gerard & Maggi (seasoned world adventure tour leaders) will welcome you and endeavour to make your stay comfortable and memorable. They can provide you with a wealth of local information about Buxton, local restaurants, walks and activities in the Peak District.
The guest lounge overlooks the lake – here you can indulge in the many books about the Peak District or simply relax and enjoy the view. Across the hall is the elegant dining room – the venue for breakfast. Choose from our varied menu using local produce wherever possible.
Quality furnishings and period décor enhance the many original features in the house. The guest rooms are thoughtfully furnished and have television and tea and coffee making facilities. All double and twin bedrooms are en suite. Wi Fi access is free with complete coverage throughout the Roseleigh. For those who require easy access there is a ground floor room.
Buxton offers you a whole variety of attractions and outdoor pursuits including Buxton Opera House and Cinema, Buxton Opera & Literature Festival, Buxton Country Park including Poole’s Cavern and Go Ape (climb , leap and zip through the tree tops), the Devonshire Spa and Devonshire Dome - the perfect place to recharge, relax and revitalise.
Buxton hosts two golf courses – including Cavendish Golf Club, created by Dr. Alister MacKenzie opened in 1925 - the Cavendish is one of over 100 golf courses around the world that he helped to design.
Buxton being the Gateway to the Peak District also offers access to Chatsworth House (including the RHS Flower Show, International Horse Trials, Chatsworth Country Fair), Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Eyam (the historic Plague Village) , walks in the Goyt Valley (accessible by walking from Buxton) plus a whole array of wonderful walks elsewhere in the Peak District, and on road and off road cycling.
Visit during May to September to experience the ancient custom of Wells Dressing in the Peak District.
