AboutHigh upon a south-facing hillside, overlooking the stunning scenery of the White Peak, Rivendale offers a wide variety of accommodation over its 37 acres of pasture and woodland, ideal for catering for the varying preferences of large groups with members of different ages, possibly including some whom have restricted mobility.
Wood-fired hot tubs are available and an outdoor eco spa is under construction.
Our location about 100 metres from The Tissington Trail a few miles south of its junction with the High Peak Trail make this an ideal location for cyclists and walkers, whilst the river Dove at Mill Dale is only about 1 mile from our park, directly accessible via the footpath down Cold Eaton Dale.
These advantages make Rivendale an ideal location for schools organising walks and overnight stays as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme (such as Repton, Derby High, St Anselms', Derby Grammer) as well as companies running team building courses who may organise orienteering competitions, climbing or abseiling challenges - and other outdoor activities which may be catered for by a wide range of local specialists on or from our park.
Activities and courses that we offer have included:-
¢ Photography - by a professional tailored to suit the skill level of the participants.
¢ Fly fishing - with expert instructor Peter Lax - on our own lake and on some of the UK's most notable rivers - the Derwent at Chatsworth, Wye & Dove.
¢ Outdoor skills and survival - den building, survival skills such as fire making etc
¢ Woodcraft and other country skills such as dry stone walling.
However, we have plenty of space on site and are happy to work with clients to suit their requirements, usually with local companies - e.g. Peak Tipis for specialist Tipis and marquees for weddings and events held in our fields.
We have also identified a number of circular walks directly from Rivendale, of varying lengths and difficulty that have proven very popular with walking clubs. Parking in our car park is FREE for customers using the café before or after their walk, and we also supply details of the walking routes without charge to walking groups (whilst protecting our copyright). Similarly, COACHES are accepted provided we have notice of their visit so that we can ensure we have adequate staff to provide a good service.
