    Map & Directions

    Road Directions

If approaching from Matlock or Buxton on the A6.

Turn off the A6 1.5 miles west of Bakewell onto the A6020 signposted Ashford in the Water then turn immediately left into Ashford. Take the second right signposted Monsal Head on the B6465. After 1.5 miles you will see the Monsal Head Hotel on your left. Castle Cliffe is 100m further on, on your right.

    If approaching from Sheffield.

Take the A625 to Calver and proceed towards Bakewell on the B6001. At the junction with the A6020 exit right on the roundabout. After approx 1/2 mile take the next right to Great Longstone. Go straight through Great Longstone and then Little Longstone until you reach a T junction with the B6465. Turn right here. Castle Cliffe is 100m further on, on your right.

    If approaching from Chesterfield.

Take the A619 towards Bakewell. In Baslow take the first exit on the roundabout and turn right after 500m, still on the A619 towards Bakewell. At the top of the hill turn right on the A6020 towards Ashford in the Water - cross directly over the roundabout and after about 1/2 mile take the next right to Great Longstone. Go straight through Great Longstone and then Little Longstone until you reach a T junction with the B6465. Turn right here. Castle Cliffe is 100m further on, on your right.

    If approaching from Manchester.

On the A623 turn right through Wardlow on the B6465 towards Monsal Head. As you descend the hill towards Monsal Head you will see two large properties on your left. Castle Cliffe is the second house. ( Please use the second entrance as there is more room for turning in.) If you reach the Monsal Head Hotel on your right then you have just gone past the house.

    Bus.

Buses are available from Sheffield and Chesterfield to Bakewell and from Bakewell you can take the 173 to Monsal Head. Buses are not frequent so please check the times carefully.
From Nottingham or Manchester you can take the Trans Peak to Ashford in the Water but you would then have a walk of 1.5 miles to Monsal Head.

    Train

The closest mainline train station is Chesterfield. Matlock and Grindleford stations are marginally closer but onward transport to Monsal Head would need to be arranged.
