BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE. We have the AA Covid 19 Confident award and the Visit Britain "We're Good to Go" Award for compliance with Government Covid 19 legislation, and for the extra cleaning protocols in place at Candlelight Cottage to keep our guests safe.

Visit romantic Candlelight Cottage, with its oak beams, roaring fire and 18th century charm. Rated 5 star GOLD by VisitEngland and overlooking the green in the picturesque Peak District village of Litton, Candlelight Cottage has been renovated and tastefully furnished to a very high standard and provides every home comfort and modern convenience you might expect and more.

The cottage has free WiFi, 5 ovens (electric, AGA and microwave), a washing machine, dishwasher, freezer, ceramic hob, BBQ, heated boot room, tumble drying service and much more besides; all provided to make your stay comfortable and easy.

Candlelight Cottage provides an ideal central base for exploring all of the Peak District attractions. Sightseeing, hiking, cycling and mountain biking are all possible from the door of the cottage. Caving, fishing, climbing, paragliding, potholing, sailing and many other outdoor activities are all available locally.

For those who simply want to get away from it all, the cottage is a peaceful haven and Litton is a beautiful, traditional Peak District village. The award-winning village shop (don’t forget to try the homemade cakes and local ice cream), and excellent Red Lion pub (featured in The Good Pub Guide) mean that there’s no need to move far from the cottage if you don’t want to.

It is also easy to get to Litton and sightsee using public transport. The owners are happy to help you plan your trip and can provide advice on aspects such as transport, cycle hire, excursions, activities or even arranging a delivery of local products for you to enjoy during your stay.

Changeover day is Friday (and /or Monday during short break season.) The owners, Jill and Simon welcome all guests personally and provide a generous welcome pack including fresh flowers and locally sourced products. Peak District maps, leaflets and books are provided for guests' use, along with a selection of novels, DVD’s and games.

Candlelight Cottage is spotlessly clean, PET FREE and ideal for allergy sufferers. Children over the age of 8 are very welcome, but we regret that the cottage is unsuitable for children less than 8 years of age.

Litton lies close to Tideswell, at the very centre of the Peak District, almost where the areas of the White Peak and Dark Peak meet. It is ideally situated for enjoying walks through the limestone dales of the White Peak such as Millers Dale, Cressbrook Dale, Monsal Dale, Dovedale or Lathkill Dale. Equally accessible are The Dark Peak’s gritstone edges and moorlands such as Stanage Edge, Kinder Scout and Bleaklow or Ladybower or Derwent reservoirs. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Eyam Hall, Hardwick Hall and many National Trust properties are close by and make excellent days out.

Nearby Bakewell, Buxton and Ashbourne offer boutique shops, cafes, markets and cultural events.  Eyam, Foolow, Hathersage, Castleton, Ilam, Tissington and Hartington are just some of the historic and extremely photogenic local Peak District villages, packed with places to explore and visit.

The Pennine Way, Monsal Trail, Tissington Trail, Limestone Way and many safe and interesting cycle trails are all within easy reach of Candlelight Cottage too, so you will find lots to see and do during your stay.

We participate in the Walkers Welcome scheme and follow an environmental policy to help preserve the beautiful  Peak District landscape.

Well appointed cottage with everything you need and good food in a neaby pub (a few minutes walk). Good walking in the area and not far to visit Buxton or Bakewell. Highly recommend a stay here. Read full review
