Details
Situated within the bounds of the Peak District National Park and within easy walking distance of Kinder Scout and all the other hills of the Dark Peak, this delightful Inn has all the modern amenities but still retains its old world charm.
Originally built as a farmhouse in 1783 and converted to an Inn in 1844, is situated on the A624 between Glossop and Chapel-en-le-Frith where the road dates back to 1792 from the building of the turnpike between Old Glossop and Buxton.
Today, the resident owners Stella and Tom extend a warm welcome to all who frequent their country hostelry, with a roaring fire, fresh home-cooked food complemented with a well balanced wine menu and well kept real ales.
Of mid18th Century architectural design no two rooms are the same and vary in size and character, nevertheless, visitors staying at the Lantern Pike will be delighted at the standard of accommodation. We have 5 cosy en-suite bedrooms with tea/coffee making facilities, colour TV, radio alarm clock and hairdryers as standard.
The Lantern Pike is an ideal place to explore some of the highest peaks in the area: Kinder, Bleaklow and Black Hill either on foot or mountain bike, as well as Lantern Pike hill of course which is owned by the National Trust.
We are also very proud to be featured in the "Good Pub Guide" 2012 as the ONLY main entry in the area. You will also find us in the "Good Beer Guide" 2012.
