This ancient custom is only found in Derbyshire. In Holymoorside 3 wells are dressed. The Holymoorside well dressers use whole flower heads to dress their wells rather than flower petals. At night the wells are illuminated using floodlights. Photographs and a very informative book are available at the well.
Main Well is sited in a stone structure next to Cotton Hill Road, across from the Recreation Ground (near the Bull's Head pub).
