Taking place at Black Rocks on the Cromford and High Peak Railway between Cromford and Wirksworth. The event is a celebration of traditional and modern woodland crafts and takes place in the picturesque setting of the High Peak Trail where spectacular views can be enjoyed of Cromford and the surrounding countryside. There are lots of hands on activities for children including woodland craft activities, besom and pencil making, willow weaving and Forest School activities. The Wild Man of the Woods will entertain with tales and songs from the woodland whilst a traditional storyteller and facepainter willl provide entertainment from their base of a Mongolian yurt. Woodland craft demonstrations will take place throughout the weekend such as hedgelaying, chair making, pole lathe turning, campfire cooking and friction firelighting. A horse and dray is on hand to transport people through the festival site whilst the modern woodland activities of chainsaw carving, tree climbing, mobile sawmilling and log splitting will also be on display. The festival is aimed at all ages including families.
