LONG DISTANCE WALKS

Challenge yourself to a trail walk through the superb Peak District landscape. Choose from high level routes such as the Pennine Way to riverside ones such as the Derwent Valley Heritage Way, stopping at a different place every night.

The Limestone Way guidebook published by Derbyshire Dales District Council includes a full description of the walk and map sections, in fact all you need to walk the route. From Castleton to Rocester

A 46-mile walk across the White Peak from Castleton in the north to Rocester in the south, taking in spectacular scenery and pretty village views along the way. Ideal as a 4 or 5 day walk.

Derwent Valley Heritage Way

A 55 mile waymarked walk along the Derwent valley from Ladybower reservoir in the northof the Peak District to the historic inland port of Shardlow south of Derby. Passing through spectacular scenery, Chatsworth park and a World Heritage Site.

Areas of the walk are not suitable for prams or wheelchairs due to uneven ground and stiles. The majority of the walk is following trails, on grass and tarmac.

 

Bakewell to Hope

The White to Dark Way                  

The White to Dark Way is the first major walking trail dedicated to linking the best of the White Peak and the Dark Peak. It is a 27 mile walk from Bakewell to Hope and can be tackled in 3 sections. Further information will be available in July 2012.
