Mills and Hills

Cromford MillCromford MillThe hills and countryside surrounding the UNESCO Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site is the location for two fascinating walks, based around Belper and Cromford. The route leaflet includes helpful information on the history and heritage you'll see along the way.

Birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, you'll find a wealth of interesting places to visit en-route, including the Peak District Mining Museum, Crich Tramway Village, the Working Textile Museum at Sir Richard Arkwright’s Masson Mill and Strutt’s North Mill in Belper.

A wide choice of accommodation is available along the route, from a town centre coaching inn to an award-winning country hotel. And if you want a change from heritage and walking, visit one of the many local factory shops in the area for a designer bargain!
