Mam Tor ridge overlooking Hope ValleyEnjoy two days of invigorating walking, including the classic ridge walk between
Losehill and Mam Tor near Castleton, with far-reaching views of the Hope and Edale
valleys. The village itself is a fascinating place to visit, with a new Tourist
Information Centre and a wealth of craft and jewellery shops.
On the second day, you'll be able to explore the peaceful countryside to the
west of Buxton, with views over the Cheshire plain. Visits to Castleton's
Peveril Castle, which dates back to Norman times, and two caverns –
Poole’s Cavern and
Treak Cliff Cavern – can easily be included with these walks.
There's a wide choice of accommodation available in the area, too, from a large
hotel with a wide range of facilities to cosy guesthouses. Complete your break
with a visit to the superbly restored
Opera House at Buxton, which has an excellent programme of performances throughout the year.
