Derbyshire’s Tourist Information Centre’s have achieved another major accolade
as nine are granted Enjoy England Official Partner status. The scheme, introduced
in April 2007, sets a national standard for tourism information services with
an overall objective to deliver excellence across the English tourism experience.
Independent consultants Tourism Engineers worked with East Midlands Tourism and
the Regional Networking Group to assess a total of thirty one tourist information
centres across the East Midlands. They were measured against targets including
information & services, staff & training, promotion & marketing, opening
hours, signage and business management.
David James, Chief Executive of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire said “a quality experience for visitors underpins everything we do so we are absolutely
delighted that our TIC’s have been granted such a prestigious accolade. Our TIC offering is the strongest in the region and has been for a number of
years with well over a million people using our TIC facilities each year. Achieving
Enjoy England Official Partner Status confirms the quality of our visitor experience
and will continue to drive our standards for visitors and residents who use the
TIC services”.
The TIC’s to successfully meet Enjoy England’s high standards were Ashbourne,
Bakewell, Castleton, Chesterfield, Derby, Matlock, Matlock Bath, Ripley and Swadlincote.
