Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the East Midlands could now be eligible
for a £10,000 grant to help reduce their energy costs and environmental impact
through East Midlands Development Agency’s (emda’s) resource efficiency campaign.
Launched last November, the campaign has already resulted in 250 companies contacting
Business Link to find out how they can save money and improve their environmental
credentials. Some of these have now been awarded resource efficiency grants to
help reduce energy and raw material costs and look at ways of improving recycling
activities.
John O’Reilly, Business Support Director at emda, said: “We’ve had a lot of interest in our campaign which is really encouraging,
but it’s so important that more companies come forward and contact Business Link
for further support and advice. There are many practical and small steps that
firms can take to improve their bottom line by managing their materials, energy
and water more effectively.”
emda is initially providing grant funding of up to £10,000 until 31 March 2008 to
help businesses implement resource efficiency changes. The grant funding will
provide up to 50% of the cost of changes, the balance being met by the business.
All grants are subject to businesses meeting certain criteria.
