Visit Peak District & Derbyshire provides a strategic lead for the development
and marketing of tourism throughout the sub-region, the key aims and objectives
of which are outlined below:
- Advise the SSPs, EMT and others on the priorities for capital investment in the
visitor economy
- Optimise the profile and recognition of the iconic Peak District brand
- Promote the area to identified market segments
- Ensure that high quality research and market intelligence is applied
- Develop the potential of the Destination Management System as the foundation
of effective marketing and visitor services
- Coordinate the provision of visitor information: the DMP’s role will be the development
key resources such as the DMS; the delivery of the service locally rests with
the local authorities and their partners
- Act as a ‘front door’ for businesses to access advice, business support and help
with workforce skills
- Guide and coordinate the provision of business support and training
- Promote networking and collaboration between tourism businesses in the area
- Represent the interests of Peak District and Derbyshire tourism businesses and
organisations at regional and national level
- Promote the improvement of quality in every aspect of the product and service
to visitors
- Advise on public investment in tourism product, such as attractions, activities
and events
- Encourage coordination of transport, improved public realm and amenities
