Barlow (nr Chesterfield) Well Dressing at BarlowAn ancient custom only found in Derbyshire. The villagers claim that well dressing began in Barlow in Elizabethan times, although this can't be confirmed. Our well dressers use whole flower heads, rather than individual petals, to cover the clay more quickly. When you look at the size of our well dressings, you can see why!
