From the north: Take the A6 south from Bakewell. Turn right onto the B5056 signposted to Ashbourne. After about 1 mile bear left over a small bridge - signed to Ashbourne, continue for approx 3 miles until 1st crossroads. Turn right to Elton, continue to church. Turn right into Well Street, Hawthorn Cottage is at the bottom of Well Street behind village pump. From the south: take the A6 north from Matlock. After approx 2 miles turn left at Darley Dale onto B5057 signposted to Winster. Go through Winster to Elton and proceed as above.
