Swadlincote, a town famous for its rich pottery and mining heritage is the main town in South Derbyshire and is located at the heart of the National Forest.

The story of the towns rich potting and mining history is told at Sharpe's Pottery Museum, located at the beginning of the main pedestrianised street. The museum also houses the Tourist Information Centre, Magic Attic Archives and People's Express.

The Tourist Information Centre serves both visitors to the area and the local community and provides information on local and national accommodation, places to visit, eating out, events and transport information.

The town has many opportunities for leisure including Swadlincote Ski and Snowboard Centre, Green Bank Leisure Centre and outdoor recreation spaces such as Swadlincote Woodlands, Maurice Lea Memorial Park and Eureka Park.

Shopping in the town is an exciting mix of big name stores and independent traders with over 130 retail outlets in a pedestrianised shopping centre there is plenty to choose from; including major names such as Boots, Clinton Cards, Birthdays, Hallmark, Clarks and Sainsburys, together with independent stores such as John Paul Clothing. A market is also held on the Delph every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. The town also has a number of places to have coffee including the Cornishware Coffee Shop, The Yard, The Paramount and much more.
