Taddington Well Dressing under Construction at Taddington

Find out more about the ancient custom of well dressing by watching the well dressers at work. First the boards are filled with clay, then the paper carrying the design is placed on top. The outline is ‘pricked out’ by making holes along each line – like a dot-to-dot picture. Finally, the design is ‘coloured in’ using only natural materials.
