Maurice Lea Memorial Park is situated in Swadlincote at the heart of The National Forest and
has benefitted from £645,000 of Heritage Funding towards a £1 million restoration project. The park was presented to the district by a local entrepeneur, Herbert Lea, in remembrance of his son Maurice Lea who was killed in France during the First World War.

There are a range of facilities at the park including flat and crown bowling greens, tennis courts, football pitch, netball courts, multi use games area and an equipped play area. In July 2008, Maurice Lea Memorial Park was awarded Green Flag status.

At Maurice Lea Memorial Park it is possible to just turn up and pay on site for the use of certain facilities. Below is a schedule of prices for those facilities.

Use of Bowling Green (per hour): Adult: £2.00, Concession: £1.20, Use of Tennis Court (per hour): Adult: £2.40, Concession: £1.40. Hire of the football pitch must be arranged through South Derbyshire District Council.

From the Swadlincote Civic Way roundabout take the exit signposted Derby. At the next roundabout take the exit onto Coppice Side (B586 signposted Measham). Go straight over the next roundabout onto Bridge Street and then take the first left onto John Street where the park is located.
