There are two days out in one with a visit to Sudbury Hall and the Museum of Childhood.
The exquisite carved woodwork and plaster ceilings are the reason the National Trust owns Sudbury Hall, the quality and craftsmanship are world beating. With one of the most surprising, light and beautiful long galleries in England, Sudbury is the result of George Vernon’s aspirations to create a perfect new home to be lived in by his family for the next 300 years.
Get a sense of the contrast between family and servant life as you glimpse life below stairs in the kitchen and basement, and picture yourself at home in some of the smaller family rooms. Administered by The National Trust The Museum of Childhood is a place of fun and fascination for all ages as you travel through time from the Victorian period to the present day with our childhood collection. Little ones can have a go at being a chimney sweep and everyone is welcome for a lesson in the Victorian Schoolroom. Have a go with our hands on toys and games and reminisce about the games you used to play.
