Torrs Riverside Park
Directly in the town centre 'the park under the town' now extends for 2 miles along the Goyt valley and is a superb place to walk, picnic and learn about natural and industrial heritage of the area. The park includes the Millenium Walkway - a 525 foot or 160 metre long walkway on pillars over the river and Torrs Hydro scheme - the UK's first community owned hydro electric 12 ton steel "Reverse Archimedean Screw" making enough electricity to supply 70 homes.
