Details

Eagle Cottage and Swallows Nest are situated in the centre of the pretty little village of Birchover, nestling among trees on one side and open fields with magnificent views on the other. During both summer and winter the village attracts many visitors who have discovered the beauty of the surrounding countryside and the many walks associated with it.

The owners have been letting out Eagle Cottage as self-catering accommodation for over 20 years and during that time have come to recognise the needs of visitors and what they expect from the accommodation and the facilities readily available in the vicinity. Although situated in the centre of the village guests frequently comment on the quietness of the cottage and the home-from-home nature of it. You are approximately 100 yards from the Red Lion Inn and 200 yards from The Druid Inn with both serving excllent food.
The cottage is well equipped and offers visitors the choice of bringing their own bed linen and towels or they can be provided at an additional cost. The wood burning stove in the sitting room provides a cosy addition particularly during the chilly winter days and nights.

Swallows Nest comprises of a living/dining room with vaulted ceiling. log burning stove effect gas fire, central heating throughout and a double bedded room with en-suite luxury walk-in shower room and a small kitchen. Double doors open onto a patio with outdoor table and chairs.

There are swimming pools and golf courses in Bakewell and Matlock, horse riding and fishing five miles away and cycles can be hired at Bakewell to ride along the disused railway line and over the viaduct known as the Monsal Trail. Cycles can also be hired at Parsley Hay to ride along the Tissington and High Peak Trails, both disused railway lines. Bakewell stall market and cattle market is held every Monday and the shopping outlet known as Peak Village is in the village of Rowsley nearby. Children welcome from any age.

“Lovely comfortable cottage - a home from home”

We have stayed at Eagle Cottage a few times now, but this is the first with our baby daughter. The cottage is clean, comfortable and warm and we found there was ample room for our travel cot In the bedroom. There is extensive information in the cottage about the surrounding area. It is conveniently situated a stones throw from one of the village pubs and there is easy access to Stanton Moor with our daughter in a carrier. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking for a home from home environment.
