A historic market town famous for its links with Bonnie Prince Charlie, William Morris, Queen Victoria, James Brindley and its ancients markets, Victorian mills, distinctive shops and eateries.
Visit our award winning Sunday Supplement market (held 1st Sunday of each month) enjoy the hustle and bustle of our Charter markets held Wednesday, Friday and Saturday weekly. The unspoilt town centre is a refreshing change from modern shopping malls and has some unique speciality antique shops, you'll be able to explore huge Victorian mills, formerly silk mills but now housing antique and reproduction pine furniture as well as traditional and contemporary art galleries. The town has numerous independent food shops including oatcakes, whisky and beers and a delicatessen selling locally made cheese.
Trace the town's history and visit the changing exhibitions at our Nicholson Museum & Art Gallery, take a self-guided tour (leaflet available from the Tourist Information Centre) of the town or use one of our experienced Blue Badge Guides.
A visit to Leek offers a rich tapestry of heritage, shopping, events and activities to suit all tastes - plus some of Britain's most stunning scenery right on its doorstep.
